Even though the cover image for the Singapore Night Festival 2022 looks more like something for Halloween, but as the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover, since it was definitely a happening night at the Night Festival!

There are over 55 exciting experiences waiting for you, with highlight act Cathay Hotel: The Curse of the Missing Red Shoe, by local art collective Vertical Submarine, 6 projection mapping installations, 15 Night Lights installations, 5 performance locations, 5 experiential programmes and a Festival Village abuzz with an array of music performances and food and beverage experiences.
So many experiences...which should I go?

Therefore, you may wonder which one of these 55 experiences should you opt for? Well, the organiser has specially curated routes for people with the following profiles:
- The Influencer
- The Art Appreciator
- The Young at Heart
- The Heritage Lover
You can find the above routes, together with a map plus other important and useful info in the official Singapore Night Festival 2022 Highlights brochure.
(If you prefer a hardcopy of the brochure, you can obtain a copy at the information counter in the Festival Village.)
Unfortunately, there was no curated route for "The Cheapo", which was our profile. Our aim was to enjoy ourselves at the Festival with limited budget. Hence, we opted for experiences with Free Admission.
The only place where we spent money would be for food at the Festival Village. Hey...we do want to do our part so that we can enjoy the Festival again next year!
After Dark @ Dhoby Ghaut Green
The food were abit overpriced, which, I guess, could be expected at a festival. What we recommend would be to try what you find unique, or have not tried before.
There were a seating area, and also live music performance at certain timings. Being able to sit, while enjoying the food and music, were a plus point.
In addition, based on our experience, if you are a person who gets bitten by mosquitos more than others, you may want to take precaution.

Projection Mapping

"Projection Mapping is a video projection technique in which video footage is mapped onto a surface, turning common objects – such as buildings, runways, stages and even water – into astonishing displays. This is often combined with matching sound effects."
We found Stories from Forbidden Hill, by Maxin10sity, at National Musuem of Singapore to be the most impressive. It is a must-see for sure!
Preview Video of Midnight Show at the Capitol, by MOJOKO
The Midnight Show at the Capitol, by MOJOKO, at National Archives of Singapore was also quite interesting! Take a trip down memory lane with this hyper-colourful visual treat. Remixing images from the collections of the National Archives of Singapore and National Library, visual artist MOJOKO highlights Singapore’s cinemas of times past. Inspired by the cultural importance and rich visual history of Capitol Theatre and Cathay Picture House, MOJOKO brings a contemporary twist to the classic movie posters that were once commonplace in the area.

By the way, 3 installations, Glitches of You, by Amanda Tan, The Melting Pot, by Adeline Tan & Benedict Teo and Madeleine, by Lueur, are at the same location at Stamford Clock Tower, with their project mappings done on the Stamford Clock's face.
All Projections Mappings are available at the following days & hours:
Date: 19 - 27 August 2022
Time: 730pm - 1200am
Night Lights
We encountered some diffculty with photo taking due to the light from the Night Lights. The person in the photo would often appear too dark. However, we still managed to take some decent photos.
What we enjoyed most would be the City of Books, by Fish Jaafar. Here, you can draw on each other with luminous paint that glows in the dark. And no worries, as it can be easily wiped off after.
The same paint was used on the City of Books.

All Night Lights are available at the following days & hours:
Date: 19 - 27 August 2022
Time: 730pm - 1200am
We went to all 15 Night Lights installations in one night comfortably. You should also be able to do so.
Performances

In our opinion, the performances were the highlight of the Singapore Night Festival. And you should definately visit the Armenian Street Party!

Another must-visit would be the Groovy Town @ SMU!
Preview Video of performance by Litmus Jazz Ensemble @ Jazz'in @ Capitol Singapore
Finally, if you have a specific interest in Jazz or Disco music, you should check out Jazz'in @ Capitol Singapore or Discoloo Centre.
All the above Performances are ONLY available at the following days:
19 & 20 August 2022
26 & 27 August 2022
For the best experience, do check out their performance schedules (links above),
or find out more info here
(hint: use the filter function -> filter "Performances" under "Venue")
Safety
Do be careful when crossing the roads as you travel from venue to venue.
And thanks to all the Security Officers for looking out for us so that we can cross the roads safely!
Conclusion
We would recommend not to miss out on Singapore Night Festival 2022! Again, you are advised to check out the official brochure and map to research and plan out in advance for the best experience.
If you are also looking to enjoy the Projection Mappings, Night Lights and Performances, do take note that, based on our experience, it is not possible to complete all the experiences in the three categories in one night. Suggest to spend two evenings instead, using the first evening on the Projection Mappings and Night Lights, and the second evening on the Performances.
