REVIEW: Feng Food - Authentic Taiwanese Food

Located in Northpoint’s B1 food street, along with a maze of other restaurants, Feng Food offers authentic Taiwanese cuisine.

Mr Yu Cheng Min, the head chef and owner of Feng Food, is from Yi Lan, Taiwan, and has 28 years of culinary experience under his belt.

Noticing that Singaporeans have a huge interest towards Taiwanese food, he made a resolution in 2017 to open his first restaurant featuring his hometown flavours.

Therefore, it’s no wonder that Feng Food is one of the more authentic Taiwanese restaurants in Singapore!

The dishes here are suitable for people of all ages. There are many main dishes to choose from, and you can also enjoy it with some appetizer dishes.

Main Dishes - What We Chose

We really recommend their Pork Wonton Noodles with Fiery Chili Oil ($10.90). The hot & sour taste made it very appetizing! The “Guan Miao” noodle imported from Taiwan was also very chewy. In addition, the “Chao Shou” (Wontons) were made to order. They were evenly filled with prawn chunks and soft minced meat, and I could not help but downed several in succession!

Another must-order dish is their Hakka-style Braised Meat Rice ($9.50). The braised pork was very tender, and also fat, but not greasy. Served together with fragrant rice, braised eggs, cucumbers and pickles, we liked that this Braised Meat Rice dish as a whole was not too salty and heavy in taste.

Appetizer Dishes - What We Chose

The Moon Shape Prawn Cake ($13) was very crispy and surprisingly tasty. And when paired with the accompanying garlicky, sweet chili sauce, we finished everything in a jiffy! However, it was obviously not moon-shaped. 😅

The Feng Food Golden Fried Duo ($13) was also quite good as an appetizer dish. The crispy fried chicken and crunchy tempura inside were not greasy at all. And the crispiness and crunchiness from both paired well and enhanced the taste of the dish as a whole.

Verdict

We think that the food was quite authentic, and we really enjoyed the food here, but wish that the pricing could be more wallet-friendly. But, having said that, we would still visit Feng Food again if we have the chance!
